Another day off and Distances app review

By Skip

So last night I was sitting on the couch and my ankle was throbbing a little too much… I knew that it would probably be sore today and sure enough.  Not only that, we had a cold spell swing through South Florida again and it was 44 degrees when I got up to test my ankle.  Given both of those items, I made the decision to shelve my running another day.

I have some serious catching up to do, however!  Tomorrow will also start week 8 of training.  Only

I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you about a new iPhone app I downloaded called Distances.  It allows you to place pins on a map and total distance….. giving you the opportunity to plan your next running route and know how much you are going to run!  Comes in handy on the road when you are in a new town and want to quickly plan a run.  The only downside is that it is not like the Nike+ mapping feature where you can just tell it to “follow the road.”  You actually have to put “pins” and place them on your route.  Probably cuts down the accuracy a little bit but it will get you close!  Here is the link to the app if you are interested: Distances

If you liked that post, then try these...

About

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!

The start of 2009 was big for me as I came to the realization that I had put on too much weight over the past 10 years (read more...)
