Couch to 5K: Week 2, Day 1

By Skip

Changing it up a little bit this week as I head into my second week of training.

Here is what is in store for me today:

  • 5 minute warmup
  • Alternate 90 seconds of jogging with 2 minutes of walking for 20 minutes
  • 5 minute cooldown

So, this should have been about a 30 minute workout, right?  Take a look to the right (screen shot)….. One hour?  5 miles?  What??  Ok, so I went off the schedule and basically doubled up today’s routine.

I was listening  to a little Flo Rida and the rhythm kept me going.  Guess he was spinning me right round (like a record baby).  So PERSONALLY, this was the most calories I burned in one day (644) while running and the furthest my body has traveled at 5.14 miles.  Wow.

Needless to say I was exhausted when I had finished.  Hopefully I won’t be feeling the pain tomorrow….. even though I can’t see how I won’t considering my body has no idea what to do with this kind of exercise.  Even though I am not scheduled to run tomorrow I will let you know my pain level :)

About

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!

The start of 2009 was big for me as I came to the realization that I had put on too much weight over the past 10 years (read more...)
