Couch to 5K: Week 5, Day 3
Finally some “meat and potatoes” to this workout! Let’s see how my endurance level is… am actually excited to close out this week.
Here is what I am excited about doing and is offically on the schedule:
- Five-minute warmup
- Run for 20 minutes with no walking
- Five-minute cooldown
After 20 minutes I was still going strong so went just a little bit further and ran for about 35 minutes straight! Wow! This was a HUGE accomplishment for me today!
I felt really, really good out there and I see some light at the end of the tunnel. When I first started this program… or just last week, for that matter, I had no idea how I was going to run a 5K without stopping… I mean a 5k is roughly about 30 minutes of straight running. Obviously I want to do it faster than that but that is what I am up against.
I have to say that today, I am very proud of myself. AND at a pace that I have not really been able to achieve before (for long periods.) I know that the decreased pace time has to do with the fact that I am now running more than I am walking. In any case, game on!
