Couch to 5K: Week 8, Day 3

By Skip

My final day of week 8!  Can’t believe I am only 1 week away from completing this training program.

Here is what was on my agenda today:

  • Five-minute warmup
  • Run for 28 minutes
  • Five-minute cooldown

I ended up doing the Serena Williams Nike+ workout.  This is such a GREAT WORKOUT.  It will wear your butt down but man, it will build your endurance.  I am going to try to do this at least once a week.

So my pace was a little slower today but not that much slower.  I did develop some pains in my side about half way through but kept plugging along.  Eventually it went away and I picked things up again.

Having so much time off over that past couple of weeks has REALLY effected my run and my endurance.  I didn’t think it would but I thought wrong.  So if I ever questioned my running “mojo” before, my time out today should be enough to keep me motivated.  If I don’t keep going, I am going to pay for it!  In addition, I am only 22 miles away from moving up to the next “color level” on the Nike+ website!!!

About

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!

The start of 2009 was big for me as I came to the realization that I had put on too much weight over the past 10 years (read more...)
