Day 40: Back to the pool with my Speedos
Headed to the pool this Saturday morning and was excited to push myself a little harder today and see what kind of time I could REALLY do with my new slick Speedos 🙂
Standard workout for me today which consisted of:
- WU: 250 @ low aerobic intensity
- 6 x 25 drills, RI=0:10
- MS: 5 x 200 @ threshold intensity, RI=0:30
- 6 x 25 kick, RI=0:15
- CD: 250 @ low aerobic intensity
The most noticeable difference was the amount of rest interval…. it is becoming shorter and shorter as I go through my schedule. The reason is obvious but something I need to really concentrate on and not forget about. Felt pretty good and fast in the pool today and found some ways to push myself a little bit more. I am also at a point where I am starting to feel my “pace” when it comes to the swim. Now I can work on that and my improving my stroke.
It was quite cloudy today and ended up being a very nice day to swim. The pool was not too crowded but it has been a while since I have been able to get over to the 100 meter lanes. Today, again, they were full. Give me another week and I think I will start seriously thinking about some open water swimming. I need to get that feeling of uninterrupted distances and not pushing off a wall. Also need to get used to the taste of salt water vs pool water. I better enjoy it pre oil!
Speaking of which, what is happening with all the Gulf coast triathlons this summer? I have not heard much news about any interruptions, have you?
