Day 76: Relax before the taper
Once again, due to extreme weather conditions I was forced to move my run workout from today. I moved my day off to today to accommodate. I hope this does not screw up my overall taper week! What did I do instead? I went shopping! I bought a few things for the race and also picked up a battery for Garmin heart rate monitor. I will try it out on my run tomorrow and let you know how it works out.
Here is what it said on my calendar for today:
This week is a taper week. Your training is reduced to ensure you’re rested and ready to perform on race day.
So I will not truly be able to experience my “reduced training until AFTER my 8 mile (55 minute) run tomorrow. I am actually really looking forward to my taper as my legs are really hurting today. It will be nice to have a little more free time as well. These past few weeks have increased my training time and decreased my family time.
In addition to my scheuduled run, I am hoping to get in an open water workout as well with a few members from the Try a Tri group. I really need this experience before the race. This is the only condition I have not trained for and it is freaking me out a little bit. Once again, cross your fingers for good weather tomorrow….
