Day 9: Cruising on the bike and feeling the burn

Sticking to my 45 minute plan today or least as close as possible.  By the time I got home from work I thought it was going to downpour so I pulled out the stationary bike and thought I would have to stick to that for today’s workout.  Since I was going to do it from home my wife decided to cook dinner… after all, I can hang around, digest the food and hit the stationary bike later, right?

Well after dinner we were sitting around on the couch (digesting, remember?) and  the sun came out.  I took one look outside and made the decision that I had enough time, as long as I stuck to my time planned for today I could make it back before before dusk.

Headed out on a different path today and ended up getting some pretty darn good speed.  What screws everything up is stopping for red stop lights.  I really need to find a place that I can get some 10 mile runs without interruption so that I have a full understanding of what I am capable off.

Once again during this session there were times that I felt I did not have enough gears. Then again, you have to love flat Florida roads!  I think I need to take a cruise down to the beach and do some of the bridges so I can get some hill workouts… both biking AND running!

Pretty generic on my workout schedule again today… this time I stuck to the 45 minute constraint, almost exactly!

  • WU: 10 minutes @ moderate aerobic intensity
  • MS: 25 minutes @ moderate aerobic intensity
  • CD: 10 minutes @ moderate aerobic intensity

Not much else to report other than I think if I keep working at the pace I am I will be confident on race day.  I really need to pour a lot of my training energy into my swim.  Tomorrow is a run day for me.  I will be doing an interval run and then on Friday will be my relax day.  I am taking it early due to the 5K race I will have on Saturday.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!
