Holy Boucing Belly, Batman!

By Skip

I headed out last night on my first run in six weeks.  It was drizzling rain on my way home from work, we were coming home late, I was tired and I was hungry…. I had every excuse not to get out there but I did not give in to my temptations.  I stretched for a good 20 minutes making sure to get my IT band nice and loose and headed out the door.  Let’s just say, HOLY BOUNCING BELLY, BATMAN!  Is it really possible to do this much damage in 6 little weeks?

Today’s Weight: 161
Goal Weight: 150

This will be interesting to see how long it will take to repair 6 weeks of indulgence… anybody want to take a guess as to how long it will take?  I gave little or no concern as to the fat content or nutrition value of anything I consumed during this period!  NOW I will pay for it.

Back to the run… Once I started running I felt okay.  My legs felt good but my cardio was suffering.  I can tell that the endurance loss will be my biggest thing to overcome.  I did hold a 7:48 pace which was better than expected but horrible overall as I don’t know if I could have sustained a faster pace for any period of time.  Once I finished my run (about 25 minutes or so) my legs (quads) started cramping quite a bit.  When I woke up this morning I still had some soreness in the same area but this is to be expected.

Tonight I am going to be doing some fast intervals so I will be curious to see how “fast,” fast really is.

About

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!

The start of 2009 was big for me as I came to the realization that I had put on too much weight over the past 10 years (read more...)
