iPhone app: Speed Guage

By Skip

Ever since I got serious about competing in my running I have been using this app more and more.  Sure you kind find most of this information online but it is really nice to be able to plug in a few numbers on your iPhone and make a quick calculation… right?

To view more information and to purchase this app, click on the icon below:

Here is the description as found on the app developer’s website:

With Speed Gauge you can quickly find out your MINUTE MILE, your MPH speed, your DISTANCE and your TIME.
All you have to do is enter any two factors (Distance, Time, or Pace) and Speed Gauge computes the third. Change any variable and it will instantly re-compute! Speed Gauge allows you to find your desired PACE. Achieve your record time with Speed Gauge!
Want to find your MINUTE MILE for your marathon?
Select “marathon” and enter your time
What about your 100 meter SPEED?
Press the MPH button.
IN ADDITION, Speed Gauge allows you to:
  • Save your runs for future reference
  • Quickly select common preset distances (marathon, 100 meters, etc.)
  • Enter distances in miles, kilometers, meters, or yards
  • Supports times in fractions of a second, for short distance runners.
  • Supports metric system (min/km and km/h)
YOU CAN REFINE YOUR COMPUTATION
For example, if you first solved for PACE, by entering distance and time, you may wish to know how your TIME would change if you were to adjust the pace. Simply, tap the “PACE” button and select “TIME” when the “Solve For?” prompt appears.

NOTE: This is not a GPS enabled application. It is not intended to measure your distance and speed as you run.

About

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!

The start of 2009 was big for me as I came to the realization that I had put on too much weight over the past 10 years (read more...)
