Keeping it slow and easy

With 5 days left I wanted to take it a little easy today and not run all out.  Think that was the right move?  I am not sure myself.  At a pace of  8’23”, I truly did slow down, however, I really don’t remember slowing down that much…. sounds strange, I know.

I plan on doing just one more run this week (Wednesday) before the race.  That way I can rest my legs from Thursday through Saturday morning.  Once again, not quite sure if that is enough time.  I am going to do an interval session on Wednesday just to mix it up.  So will not be going full out the whole time but it might give me some extra bursts of energy that I can use for the race.

I just beat the rainstorms this morning.  Was hot and humid when I headed out early and about the time I got back I felt a cool breeze and could smell rain not far away.  Ended up being a horrible rain storm so glad I made it back in time.

So between now and race day I will do just one more run and a couple of bike sessions to keep my cardio up to where I want it to be.

By the way, anybody out there ever use one of those “Expand-A-Lungs?”  Thinking about getting one to open up my lungs a little bit more.

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!
