Ouch! What is wrong with my foot?

By Skip

Tried to get out today….  Gave myself the proper day off as I was suppose to (workout one day, let the body rest the next) but after my warmup walk I started to run and OUCH!  I have this severe pain on the lower outside arch of my left foot.

I had to immediately turn around an walk back home as obviously this was going nowhere today.

After quite a bit of research on the Internet I found some good explanations but not of them really had the same answers so I will try to self diagnose myself with the consus of the research I did and see what happens… for now, I am going with two possible items:

  • Stress fracture
  • Peroneal insertional tendonitis (impressed)

I am hoping for the latter…. and here is why… I can fix it myself!  They say the cause is usually from over running (duh!  See my last few posts) All of these are muscles are all tied together and once explained to me it all makes sense.  Also, it could be caused from improper running (which I am learning more about AND running on hard surfaces.  I have been running on sidewalks, which are concrete and are MUCH harder that a blacktop road, for example.  I never really thought about this and it makes perfect sense.  I think I have been during myself harm on multiple levels without even realizing it.

So, my plan of action is to buy some new inserts for my shoes that absorb some of the shock and give me better support.  I am also going to try some new stretches to make sure that this does not happen again….. I will keep you posted!  By the way, here is the link I got some of my information from that I am referring to:  WEB  LINK

About

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!

The start of 2009 was big for me as I came to the realization that I had put on too much weight over the past 10 years (read more...)
