Running with Asafa Powell
Ok, so maybe just listening to Asafa Powell while I run. At least it got your attention, right? This was a pretty amazing run and I enjoyed running to reggae music. Very different experience but very fun. Maybe it was just the change itself that was invigorating… I don’t know.
I accomplished some pretty amazing times. I realize the graphic to the right does not really show this but in this interval workout there were times where I was running a full out sprint and sustaining it over a period of minutes. this will REALLY increase my speed over the next few months (or even weeks) for sure!
After this run I came home and hit the bike. I was just planning on going to pick up my yearly membership to the community aquatic center and just kept going… headed to the running store and the explored some more routes. Ended up doing 16 miles without even thinking about it. This is also the first time I was measuring speed, cadence and heartbeat at the same time. It is amazing how much data you can create in a very short amount of time AND how helpful that information can be! As I learn more about what numbers I should be achieving, I am able to compare my REAL numbers and evaluate how I am doing.
While I was out I stopped by my local bike store and they put some “slicks” on for me… smooth tires instead of that deep tread on the old tires. Should be interesting to take it back out and see how I do on speed and overall performance. After talking to the bike store guys, I have quite a bit to learn about bikes and if I end up buying a better bike (which is probable) I will need to do quite a bit of research.
I certainly am still learning and will continue to share the information I take in. As you can tell, this blog originally started off as a running website and is now progressing into a triathlon training website. Everybody okay with that?
