USA Triathalon Membership

By Skip

Well, you can’t say I am not motivated!  Actually, anybody who knows me knows that this is very, very true.  When I commit to something, I commit to it 100% and never lose sight of what I am attempting to achieve.

I have mentioned several times about starting triathlon training when I finish my first 5K so I made myself commit to it today.  I signed up for a USA Triathlon membership.  This has several meanings but most importantly, if I compete in three sanctioned events, I can actually be ranked!  How cool is that!

I am noticing a ton of discounts as well once you become a member.    Here is a breakdown on their website of membership benefits:

  • Part of a community of 125,000 athletes and growing
  • Subscription to the quarterly USA Triathlon publication USA Triathlon Life
  • Inclusion in the USA Triathlon national ranking system after competing in at least three USAT sanctioned triathlon events or two duathlon events
  • Excess accident insurance while participating in USA Triathlon-sanctioned events
  • Savings at events by not having to pay one-day license fee
  • Access to members-only dashboard with opportunities to access giveaways and special articles
  • Discounts from USA Triathlon partners, including AVIA, Endurance Films, Fuel Belt, Rudy Project, Selle Italia saddles, Training Peaks, Trigger Point and more. You’ll have access to the discount codes via your membership dashboard.
  • Members-only forum
  • Membership card and key fob
  • USA Triathlon sticker
  • The official USA Triathlon Rulebook. Please request your free E-copy by emailing
  • Have a voice in the direction and development of multisport by joining USAT Committees and Commissions
  • Eligibility to qualify as a Team USA Triathlon/Duathlon member and compete at ITU World Championship events.
  • Eligibility to compete at USAT Short Course Triathlon and Duathlon National Championships.
  • E-newsletters to keep you informed
  • Use of Regional Training Centers

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!

The start of 2009 was big for me as I came to the realization that I had put on too much weight over the past 10 years (read more...)
