Week off due to ankle injury

By Skip

It has been over a week since I last posted an entry…. that is because it has been a week since I have been able to run!   As a matter of fact I am still out of the game….  Today is the first day I am starting to see improvement in my ankle.

If you go back and look at my last post, once again, I over-did it!  My ankle was sore to begin with and yet I ran on it.  Not only did I run but I ran a 10K at a pretty good pace.  Even then I knew I probably should not have done that!

The following day I could barely walk.  My ankle become very swollen and painful.  Even now, it is swollen a little bit.  I can only hope that it is aggravated and nothing else more seriously was injured.

Yesterday I had a sensation where it felt like something “clicked” into place.  Maybe a tendon or something?  Since that happened, things got a little better.  This morning I did not feel it as much when I stepped on the floor as I got out of bed.  This afternoon it has started to swell a little bit but I really, really feel like there is an improvement.

I am hoping that I can get back out by Saturday.  I am not going to push it, however.  I don’t want to re-injure myself.  That bad part is that I am SOOOOOO close to finishing my C25K program…. only 5 more training days left.

I will post again when I am back on the trail.

About

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!

The start of 2009 was big for me as I came to the realization that I had put on too much weight over the past 10 years (read more...)
