What happened to my endurance?

By Skip

My intervals kind of sucked today. My legs felt decent BUT they were a little stiff. It was nice and cool out so I don’t understand why these were so tough for me today…. after all, it was only three minutes of running at a shot!

  • WU: Run 10 minutes @ Pace Zone 2 (Low Aerobic)
  • MS: 4 x 3 minutes @ Pace Zone 8 (VO2max) w/ 3-minutes recoveries @ Pace Zone 2 (Low Aerobic)
  • CD: Run 10 minutes @ Pace Zone 2 (Low Aerobic)

I did try a new thing today where I took my Garmin foot pod and used that in addition in order to collect even MORE data.

This topic came up yesterday while swimming as Gary(the instructor) had asked me what my run cadence was (as we were talking about cadence at the time) and I couldn’t tell him as I never really measured that before. I always use pace speed and heart rate zones in order to train for my running… it will be interesting to see what my cadence is from now on and have another metric to analyze.

I also started using different screen capturing software so the colors are more vivid…. this allows you to see the separation of the data types a little bit better.  Some of you had mentioned this before and now that I have included another color and data type, it would make things even more confusing.

About

So if you have read any of the blog thus far you know a little bit about me… I can not be told what to do and I push myself about as far as I can be pushed!

But how did I get here and why? Well, that is what this page is about.

I was never really the athletic type. Sure, I played tennis in high school (and quite well, mind you) but running CERTAINLY was never my thing!

The start of 2009 was big for me as I came to the realization that I had put on too much weight over the past 10 years (read more...)
